The firm has facilitated legal interventions in several banking and finance transactions notably in acquisition finance, secured and unsecured loans, syndicated loans and project and infrastructure finance. The team focuses on detail, rigorous research and value creation for clients thus enabling sound advice to domestic and international retail and commercial banks, leasing companies, export credit agencies, development finance institutions, arrangers, borrowers and lenders on a wide range of banking and finance matters. This also includes advice on incorporation, setting up local offices, regulatory capital requirements, foreign exchange and other regulatory issues regarding the establishment of banking operations and non-banking financial institutions in the sector.
We advise on corporate and commercial lending and have advised on leasing, structured finance transactions including debt to equity conversions and real estate financing.
The firm currently acts for an American company and its local subsidiary on its proposed debt facility with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). In recent years we have collaborated with international law firms in preparing and reviewing loan documentation and reviewing contracts governed by foreign law to evaluate their validity and applicability within the context of indigenous laws and regulations. We have also represented clients in litigation matters and dispute resolution processes within the banking and finance communities.
